Course Description:
-Pretest
-Definitions used in rigging
-Explanation of OSHA, ASME, ASTM
-Who can attach a load using rigging
-Role/responsibilities of a rigger Types of rigging equipment:
• Slings ( Wire Rope, Synthetic Webbing, Steel Chain)
• Hooks
• Eye Bolts
• Swivel hoist rings
• Shackles
• Wire clips
-Inspection of rigging equipment (initial, frequent, periodic) (ASME Removal Criteria)
-Safe use of rigging slings and hardware
-Understanding the loads imposed on rigging and the effects of sling angles -How to calculate load angle factors
-Basic understanding of using volume to calculate the weight of objects -Hazards and safety of correct lifting on the job site
-Safe use of taglines
-Requirements of hand and voice signals
-Written test and evaluation of hand signals
