Construction Engineer Intern (Lexington)
General Purpose: This position is designed to provide immersive on-the-job training, working closely under the guidance of an experienced superintendent. The Construction Engineer Intern will play a key role in supporting construction projects from start to finish, gaining valuable hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of site management and construction processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist the superintendent in managing daily jobsite activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met.
· Conduct site inspections and support in monitoring progress against project schedules and budgets.
· Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to address and resolve issues as they arise.
· Prepare and maintain documentation, including project logs, photos, videos, and Struction Site entries.
· Monitor Project FTP site for submittals and RFI updates.
· Assist in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
· Support the implementation of safety and compliance protocols across the jobsite.
· Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes on-site.
· Shadow the superintendent to learn best practices in leadership and project coordination.
· Prepare and maintain two week lookahead and schedule reviews.
· Ensure updated and compliant jobsite documentation for project superintendent
· Assist site team with hands-on work when needed such as cleaning, material delivery, site logistics maintenance, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
